Does Domino’s Take EBT? Pizza Places Near Me by State

Are you a SNAP recipient who loves cooking at home? If you are, that’s what SNAP wants. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rule of thumb is that recipients should only buy staple food items to buy and prepare at home and eaten as part of a balanced meal.

That means you can’t use your SNAP funds to purchase hot foods that are ready to eat. The best you can do is buy cold snack food that you can eat on the go or warm and eat at home.

Cooking your meals is also one of the top frugal living tips with a big impact on saving money. Instead of eating out at restaurants like Domino’s or Jack in the Box, you can save a few bucks by cooking your meals at home. That’s how you stretch your food stamps!

But for SNAP recipients who are elderly, homeless, or disabled, cooking is a nuisance and unnecessary addition to life’s troubles. Some are too elderly or disabled to cook, while others don’t have the means to carry and prepare food at home.

That’s why the Restaurant Meals Program was created to allow disadvantaged SNAP recipients to purchase hot, prepared food at the point of sale. RMP eligible EBT cardholders can use their EBT cards to eat at restaurants. But before a retailer can begin to accept EBT cards, it must apply and get approved for the Restaurant Meals Program by SNAP agencies in states with RMP.

That’s why many SNAP recipients want to know whether they can use their EBT card at Domino’s before they go.

It leads us to the question: Does Domino’s take EBT?

Short Answer: Only a few Domino’s locations take EBT in select counties in California and Arizona. At least, you can only use your EBT card at Domino’s restaurants if you live in a state that participates in the Restaurant Meals Program and you qualify for the program.

Unfortunately, not so many states extend SNAP through the RMP to allow disadvantaged groups to eat. So far, only six states, including Arizona, California, Rhode Island, Illinois, Maryland, and Michigan, have a restaurant meals program. Unfortunately, that means you won’t be able to use your EBT card to buy hot, prepared pizza at most Domino’s locations.

Arizona and California are the only two states with elaborate RMPs. That’s why you’ll find many fast-food places like Domino’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Subway, KFC, and McDonald’s locations that accept EBT in those two states.

Even in California and Arizona, you’ll still find some local Domino’s restaurants that don’t accept EBT. It’s because SNAP leaves it upon each state to decide whether to participate in the Restaurant Meals Program, which restaurants to approve, and who qualifies. Thus, each Domino’s pizza location must apply and get approved by SNAP agencies before they can begin accepting EBT cards.

Frugal Reality Takeaway: Only a few Domino’s Restaurants take EBT for in-store purchases in select counties in California and Arizona. Unless you live in one of these two states and qualify for the RMP, you won’t be able to use your SNAP EBT card to buy pizza at Domino’s.

Why Does Domino’s Only Accept EBT in Some States?

Domino’s pizza only takes EBT in some states because of the SNAP rules and the Restaurant Meals Program. Per the general SNAP rules, EBT cardholders can only use their cards to buy staple food items that must be carried and prepared at home. So you can’t use your SNAP funds to purchase hot prepared food at the point of sale or buy luxurious foods and alcoholic drinks in a place like Walmart, Publix, Aldi, Whole Foods, Safeway, or Kroger.

That creates a problem for the elderly, disabled, and the unsheltered who can’t cook or don’t have the means to prepare and cook food at home. To help, SNAP created the Restaurant Meals Program to allow them to buy prepared food at restaurants.

The problem is, SNAP leaves it upon each state to decide whether or not to participate in the RMP. Thus, most states don’t have restaurant meal programs, making Domino’s food items ineligible for EBT purchases in non-RMP states.

Only the six states mentioned above participate in the RMP, but Dominos isn’t authorized to process EBT food stamps in all of them. So it’s usually upon each state to decide which restaurants to approve and who qualifies to eat out with an EBT card.

So far, only a few counties in California and Arizona allow select Domino’s locations to take SNAP EBT. That’s why you’ll only find a few Domino’s locations that accept EBT across the country.

That said, you may be lucky to find a few fast-food restaurants that accept EBT in the other four RMP-participating counties for cold items like beverages, bakery goods, salads, sandwiches, protein bars, and take-and-bake-pizza that you can carry to warm or cook at home. But that’s usually up to each manager.

What Domino’s Take EBT Near Me?

Nearby Domino’s restaurants that accept EBT depend on whether your state offers a restaurant meals program. If your state agency doesn’t have an RMP, you may still find a local Domino’s that takes EBT SNAP funds for cold food items from the menu, like a sandwich, salad, soda, or filtered water. However, most pizza places that take food stamps are in a few states with the Restaurant Meals Program.

You’ll find pizza restaurants that take EBT if you reside in Arizona or California. You must qualify for RMP to buy prepared or hot food.

Here’s a list of counties in California that are in the CalFresh RMP:

  • Los Angeles County
  • Orange
  • San Diego County
  • San Francisco County
  • San Luis Obispo County

How to Use an EBT Card at Domino’s?

Once you qualify to receive SNAP benefits, state agencies open an account under your name where your food stamp benefits are loaded every month. The EBT card stands for Electronic Benefits Transfer; it’s a debit card used by SNAP to distribute government aid to qualifying recipients. Thus, an EBT card works just like a normal debit card.

To use an EBT card at Domino’s, find an RMP-authorized location. Ask the employee whether they accept EBT at your local Domino’s to avoid guesswork and the embarrassment of returning things. You may also see window or door signs showing that SNAP EBT cardholders are welcome.

Once you’re sure, go ahead and grab your pizza. First, bring your SNAP card to the cash register and let the cashier know you’re paying with food stamps. Once the card is swiped, you’ll be prompted to enter your 4-digit PIN. Then, simply enter your secret PIN to authorize the purchase. That’s how easy it is to use EBT at Domino’s.

Always check your balance before you go shopping. The easiest way to do that is to find nearby Quest ATMs that dispense $10. You can also contact your local SNAP agency to inquire.

Again, you should never forget your PIN. While you can use your debit card without a PIN, you must always PIN your EBT card to authorize payments. It helps prevent PINless card fraud, where someone may try using a stolen debit card to their advantage.

That said, never forget to carry an alternative payment card or cash. For example, run out of EBT funds in the middle of a transaction or want to buy a few SNAP-restricted items, then use an alternative payment card like a Reliacard balance, debit card with a chip, Domino’s gift card, or cash to complete the remaining part of the order.

What are the Domino’s Delivery Options?

For an extra $3, you can have Domino’s pizza delivered to your home or office within 20 minutes, depending on delivery distance. Then, you only need to go to Domino’s website, call, or use the app to place your order.

Unlike other chains that partner with third-party delivery companies like DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, or Postmates, Domino’s has its own delivery drivers that will deliver pizza to its customers. Thus, you’ll likely have your pizza delivered by their employee.

Domino’s has partnered with Nuro to have pizza delivery services handled by Nuro R2 self-driving vehicles in places like Houston. However, the self-driving option is only available if you place a prepaid order through Domino’s website. It’s so far unclear how that will work in other delivery areas.

If you’ve got a car, you can consider taking a delivery job at Domino’s. A Domino’s pizza delivery driver‘s salary can range between $14 and $25 per hour if you are 18 years old.

What are the Domino’s Delivery Payment Options?

Unfortunately, you can’t use EBT to order pizza online. Domino’s only accepts EBT in select locations for in-store purchases. That’s because Domino’s restaurants don’t participate in the USDA’s pilot program aimed at allowing EBT cardholders to order items online with their SNAP funds. But, again, all the major meal delivery apps don’t accept EBT or SNAP benefits. As a result, Domino’s cannot take food stamps for meal delivery.

But, if you want to order Domino’s pizza delivery, consider using another payment method and save your SNAP funds for in-store purchases. Accepted delivery payment methods at Domino’s include cash on delivery, credit card, Domino’s gift card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, debit card, and money on your Reliacard.
